Chelsea’s Frank Lampard says that he is almost ready to return to playing.
The midfielder has been out for two months with a groin problem, but insists that he does not fear coming straight back into the first team.
He told The Sun: “I’m not really and that’s not me being over-confident. I just know the manager has a lot of confidence in me.
Lampard will not be ready to face Liverpool tomorrow afternoon, but hopes that it will not be much longer before he is able to help his team win matches.
The midfielder said: “[The manager] is always asking me ‘When will you be fit? Are you going to be fit for Liverpool?’
“The answer is ‘I’m not’ but I’m not far away now. Obviously whether I come straight back in or not is not my decision, but I do know I will be bloody hungry when I do get back because of what I have missed.
“I know I have a lot to give so it’s up to me to show the manager I can add even more to the team.”
